It's leaking fluid, leaving a small puddle every time I turn off my engine. I have a can of Mercon in my car just for fill-ups. The gears are fine inside, but I figure if I need this baby fixed I may as well rebuild the whole thing... But if the case is cracked, what will be done then? Any ideas? I'm a regular driver so I don't really need performance parts, but I need this car to last me another 3-4 years at least.
Just a plain jane '96 LX V-6 here...

While going through the trouble why not have them refresh the trans anyways. Change to a good synthetic and have them put on as big of a cooler as possible.
Better safe then sorry.

Is this a ATX or MTX?
Doesn't really matter I guess...
I guess it would depend on where the crack is. I have heard of some people sending their MTX75's to Terry Haines to have some welding repair work done, so you might could get with him about it.
Then again, some of the fine folks `round these parts might jump in to give you some advice.
If it were me though and I knew that I could afford it, I personally would replace it.

for the prices of cases i just looked at better off getting it rebuilt because it will refresh everyhting in the trannyy as opposed to getting just a case and tpaying the same, and then a few years later the tranny dies again, could get one from a junkyard but i would take my chances with one of those, lemme try and find one on ebay for yeah gimmie a sec

When my case cracked, it was because the dif blew up. DO you get any popping going around turns? (a sort of shuffle) I had to rebuild it chewed up everything.
