I am curious about who people will say is their one most inspiring hero.

For me it is Joni Netanyahu the Israeli officer that led the raid on Entebbe when Idi Amin had hijacked and held hostage an El-Al jet in the early 70s.

Joni's life is amazing, being born to an educator he was raised in numerous places including my home town and High School in Cheltenham, PA. He went on to do undercover work for the Mossad in SYRIA during a time of unimaginable tension in the middle east.

All the while he remained a kind, gentle and introspective man who wished only for peace and family.

My favorite book, Self Portrait Of A Hero is a collection of his letters from 1963 when he was a boy until 1976 when he was a member of the Unit, the man in charge of rescuing the hostages in Entebbe. He was the only man killed in the raid and was only killed at the end by a sniper as the Unit was pulling out.

His life is amazing and he is a man I most admire in history.

Obviously there are so many men and women that one can call a hero and that deserve to be admired, but for me Joni is the one man who I connect with and I keep coming back to in this capacity.

btw - yes he was the older brother of Benjamin Netanyahu, former Israeli Prime Minister.
