I talked to JL Audio about this actually. They agree that it wouldn't shorten the life of the woofer. It took me a series of 10-15 e-mails to admit it, but they did.

I still dunno yet. Been working on my truck's system lately. Lots left to do on both vehicles, and the weather still won't change. Why is it snowing?!?!
