I talked to JL Audio about this actually. They agree that it wouldn't shorten the life of the woofer. It took me a series of 10-15 e-mails to admit it, but they did.

Sorry for my delay, some of us do work instead of trolling all day long I wont let it happen again though :p I still see no point in even wiring a sub this way, (ok a 2 channel amp with a Dual 4 ohm sub, just run it at 2 ohm and see which one gives up first )

I still dunno yet. Been working on my truck's system lately. Lots left to do on both vehicles, and the weather still won't change. Why is it snowing?!?!
