Yes. Some radar detectors also have a saftey warning system built into them as well. they will display up to 61 different messages (only if that message is being broadcast) for example: driving down the road.... utility crew up ahead... warning tone goes off and utility crew ahead flashes on the lcd panel. Also sometime firetrucks will set it off w/ an "emergency vehicle" message. Also will alert of road construction, railroad crossings, ect. But the drawback is that if these alerts are not being broadcast they will not be picked up. To my knowledge this is not in all areas yet though and I very rarely get a message and if I do it is usually a utility crew or those highway message boards that bring up a saftey message.
