i got a 99 cougar with an ATX. i have been designing a turbo kit for the car. the only thing im hung up on is the header setup for entry to the turbo. i was thinking of modding a set of stock headers, joining them just behind the tranny with a y pipe stright up to the turbine inlet and running the down pipe along side the inlet pipe. i plan on using 2.5" pipe and a T04 turbo/w the T3 flange. i also plan on using a front mount intercooler. at first i was goino to use the gude one used in the focus kit but have decided to use one with a r/h reversed flow end tank because the turbo is on one side. but back to the point i would like a little help with the exhaust header design.

p.s. i already know about the streetflight kit, it cost to much and there is no reason why you cant turbo the ATX (although im going to do a MTX swap because their more fun) cougar as far as i know no one has tried to do it.

no one has tried to fit the turbo kit to an ATX because of space issues. its already crammed enough under my hood with an mtx. not to mention, i dont see the atx lasting long with that much power.

i think the atx will be fine with mild boost, like 5 psi or so

we'll see soon enough how it holds up to the 3L and nitrous!

Street Flight tried to do the ATX kit but had the same issue you are having. The cd4e and the subframe were too close together to get up and down from the turbo.

i want to try and run the pipes 1 on top of the other if you can picture it in your head, try to imagen the down pipe almost piggie backing the inlet pipe off the conjoined headers. i do see what your saying about the space issue but i think it could be done but i'm just drawing it out now i think i will get my MTX swap first but i will still work on the ATX design. besides the batt im looking for other items that can be removed/relocated to give me alittle more room. i have been doing some drawing of the set up it all looks like it will work out on paper all i really have to do now is get the exact demensions and #of bends. but i would like som pics of the street flight headers if any one has any

Thanx dude , this really helps. i will be sure to keep you posted on the build up. another thing i plan on running a 75 shot direct port to help on the spool up what do you think, too much or not needed, if not will still mount the bottles and hardware for effect, but i will run co2 for my intercooler.

I think the N20 to help spool has been discussed. With our lack of traction ALREADY, no need to spool up the bottom end. Warmonger was making full boost at 2800 rpm I believe, I don't think the SF kit is far off from that.
