When I get it removed I dont have to put anything in its place correct?
Dumb question I know, but had to make sure, remove it and thats it.
Also has anyone done this, like does it make the car sound like some 200,000 mile piece of crap with half a muffler, or does it actually sound good?

remove and put in straight pipe of same size as teh rest. the sound isnt to loud if your leaving the stock setup. It should sound good if you dont have anyexhaust leaks.

When i bought my car from oa private seller the resonator wanst there, i didnt know anything about it becuase i didnt have another Contour V6 to compare it to. Becasue the only other person i knew who had a C V6 was Eli and he was in NYC for almost a year, then one day i went to Eli's house and starting talking to his dad who has a CSVT, he said my exhaust sounds better then his, personly i dont think its true, although i must admit it does soound pretty good.

I removed mine but the noise was very strong, and I had to install a 3" cylindrical resonator, The sound is lowder and pretty cool.

You can pay under $20 for a cheap one, but I would suggest a name brand that has a smooth perforated core - no little louvers or other stuff sticking into the exhaust stream. Mine cost about $40, but I don't know what brand it was, I just inspected the innards before the muffler shop installed it.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
