The first statement is arguable. Ford clearly puts money into making a great pickup, but the Escape is more like their car programs that are not as outstanding in the market. You cannot tell me the Escape interior looks better than the Liberty.
There was one incident when Autoweek rolled one during the soloam testing, not normal maneuvers. And DCX stated the lowering had nothing to do with the incident, not that anyone believes them. I am surprised DCX didn't turn the situation around by stating how well the vehicle did to protect the driver.
