Get a Hybrid Escape! Or go for the new Mariner! Libertys suck....why do you think sales have gone down? Why do you think they have had to open up another plant to build Escapes? The residual is also higher on an Escape.

The quality of the Hyundia SantaFe blows the Escape away, according to Automobile's long term test report.
Paul Yes I'm still tick-off Nasser cancelled the best drivers car Ford ever built, just to build the Escape!

im telling you right now, that youre completely wrong. my family owns both an escape and a liberty...basically, ill sum it up: the escape blows. crappy interior, its been in for recalls and has less than 24k on it, and it sucks off road-its not a real suv. granted, if youre looking for a car based suv, then the liberty may not be your first choice. but im telling you right now that the liberty is just in a completely diferent class compared to the escape- it is unbelieveably much better made and much more solid.
you do have a point though...i think the hybrid escape is going to be cool...

Who goes offroad in their Liberty anyways? 4% of buyers? Whoop de do! The Escape is powerful, quiet, handles well, and is attractive. I personally like the Tribute more because of the better warranty, same price, and free loaner car for warranty work.

One more note and the Ole Fart will shut up.
My bought an Escape and I ask her why, she went to buy a Mystique like mine. She didn't like the Focus and everthing else was to damn big. She had driven my car and fell in love with the way it drove. She gave the dealer a piece of her mind for not selling the Mystique anymore and he told her the owner gave Ford what's for dropping the Coniques.
Made me feel better
I've talked to several dealers in my area, "Ford blew it for dropping the Contiques" it left them high and dry, the Focus didn't fill need like Ford had promised.

I tried out a used Escape awhile back...very dissapointed in the twitchy steering and touchy accelerator of the one I drove.
When my Mystique was in the body shop I rented a Liberty. Also dissapointed in the handling.
The Escape Hybrid would be a good idea but I want more than the 1000 lb towing capacity.
I guess my Cherokee is safe from replacement for a while.

I'm a big time Jeep fan. I've owned a heavily built '96 ZJ (Grand Cherokee) and when the Liberty first came out I was MAD!!!!! "Why would they replace the XJ with that!?", I asked myself. So I went in to check them out, and they are actually really nice I hated the Escape and was sure I'd hate the Liberty aswell, but I actually do like them. *I would add 2" teraflex "spacer lift" to run a wider aftermarket wheel and a larger tire.....but that'd give it the meaner look without messing up the ride.* Also, the diesel makes it very tempting to me now...

yeah and it tows up to 5000lbs. with the factory package. it was absolutely awesome towing the contour even through a snow storm.
