Do yourself a favor and check out the Turbo diesel option. It's suppose to be the lastest technolgy (Common Rail).
Chevy's Durmax is "Common Rail" technology and idling it sounds like a regular v-8 so I've been told.
All of Europe's diesels are this new technolgy. It supposed to be a version of Damiler's many Commom Rail diesels.
Jag's suppose to be offering a all aluminum 2.7 liter v-6 Turbo diesel 210hp and 368Ft lbs @1900 rpms and 43 mpg. All these new diesels, even the 2.0liter 4 cylinders like the one offered in the Mondeo have big v-8 bottom end, quite and with the latest technology Particulate filters, the is no reason now the EPA can complain. Nudge the throttle just a bit and merging a piece of cake.
Just a matter of convincing the women, diesel fuel's ok to pump at the self-serve!

Gm's 70's gas v-8 conversions ruined the American preception of the diesel in a car.
