With Jeep offering 0% financing, i am considering the new jeep liberty. I want one with the V6 engine and 4x4.I am not familiar with that particular engine, is it placed in any other of chrysler's vehicles? Is getting a liberty a good idea or does it suck? Anyone own one?
Thanks

my dad has one, and my mom has an escape. let me first say that the jeep absolutely blows the escape away in quality, as well as off road capability (hey, its jeep, what do you expect? ) the quality of the interior is great- miles better than the escape. the jeep is just a nicer car in so many ways- i would go test drive one, and see if you like it

yeah the test drive is what got me. i went into it thinking it wasnt going to be anything special but was i suprised. we bought it the next day. it makes the escape look like a cheap piece of crap. dont take my word for it either, go test both for yourself. here is a pic of mine towing my contour to michigan...

yeah and it tows up to 5000lbs. with the factory package. it was absolutely awesome towing the contour even through a snow storm.

I'd recomend the Liberty if you're looking for tow ratings the only current equal is the Nissan Xterra, ease of maintance, normally mounted engine (not transversly) so repairs "should" be cheaper and easier. One plus/minus is that it is rear wheel drive and is true 4x4 not AWD like some of the other SUV's in the class.
I've known a few people who've had them adn they absolutly love them. No problems so far, but they are still relatively new.

Do yourself a favor and check out the Turbo diesel option. It's suppose to be the lastest technolgy (Common Rail).
Chevy's Durmax is "Common Rail" technology and idling it sounds like a regular v-8 so I've been told.
All of Europe's diesels are this new technolgy. It supposed to be a version of Damiler's many Commom Rail diesels.
Jag's suppose to be offering a all aluminum 2.7 liter v-6 Turbo diesel 210hp and 368Ft lbs @1900 rpms and 43 mpg. All these new diesels, even the 2.0liter 4 cylinders like the one offered in the Mondeo have big v-8 bottom end, quite and with the latest technology Particulate filters, the is no reason now the EPA can complain. Nudge the throttle just a bit and merging a piece of cake.
Just a matter of convincing the women, diesel fuel's ok to pump at the self-serve!
Paul
Gm's 70's gas v-8 conversions ruined the American preception of the diesel in a car.
