I shoot paper targets, but the best way to deal with a worse case scenario of some drugged out jackass coming after you and your family is to have the tools to deal with it at hand.
Shooting targets with a little .22 is cheap and a hell of a lot of fun, but that .22 isnt going to stop phsyco berserker man dead in his tracks.
The .45 was inverted to deal with drugged up Philippinos. These were not your slightly-built Manila Philipinos, the were hill-livin-fighting-for-thier-lives in the jungle Philipinos.
From all acount, they were totally badass. The same type of people that taught Magellan about escrima....by killing his western ass.
