I will be purchasing a couple guns for my wife and I to carry as concealed weapons. Which of the following two 9mm's would you choose and why : Glock subcompact or Beretta 9000? Also, any other suggestions?
We both fired the Glock on the range today and both really like it. We have yet to shoot the Beretta. I know it really comes down to what you are comfortable shooting with, but I want to explore all the options and make the right choice b/c these guns will be on us where ever it is legal.
On a side note, there is nothing better than watching a hot, petite female (who also happens to be your wife) f-ing up the target on the range. It was only her second time and almost all her shots were in the kill zone from 15-20 feet out!! Thanks for your replies.

Glock 26 , just because of the size and glock has a good reputation. I dont really know anything in depth about it. But its what I plan to carry.

Like so much else you have to look at a lot of variables.
How often do you plan on taking the pistols to the range and puting 10 or mags through it? I qualify every quarter with a Bereta 9mm full size(I'm not sure of the model), and although the gun is probably as old as I am and has put several thousand rounds down range, It still manages to put 48+/60 in the center ring every time.

I agree with the comment on H&K and I own one...incredible gun. But of the 2 you ask about I would go with the Glock. Glock has been on of the top rated combat handguns for many years now. The subcompact I believe is a tad smaller than the Beretta and a bit lighter as well which makes a big difference for concealed carry. Something else, if you are going to carry concealed there's another small advanage to the Glock. If you are carrying it loaded in your jacket pocket you can easily fire it without removing it if you have to because it is hammerless. The Beretta 9000 I believe has an external hammer which in this scenario COULD get caught up in your jacket material and not allow you to fire it without pulling it out. I know, somewhat far fetched scenario but if you are buying and carrying a handgun for personal protection why not cover every angle possible no matter how far fetched it may seem.
Something to consider though: Will you feel comfortable carrying the Glock with a round chambered being that there is no hard safety on it other than the "mini trigger" that aligns the firing pin? If not don't bother with it and get the Beretta. But if you know that won't bother you then I would say go for the Glock without a second thought.

I use beretta's in my line of duty and I can honestly tell you that if I wanted a nice and VERY SAFE handgun to carry with me, it would be the beretta. Accurate (I'm a sharpshooter from 25 yards out.... 3.1 feet... guess thats like 79-80 feet back) and the fact that they have a very good safety system. I haven't fired many other handguns but the beretta is just a damn good gun. You get what you pay for and I know it may be a little expensive but you can't pay too much for safety. And like I said already, it is very accurate.

It is most likely the Beretta 92FS. I own one, and I love it. It has never mis-fired and it is very accurate. Definitely not small though.

It's going to boil down to personal taste. I've yet to shoot a Glock that I like, but I won't deny that they have an insane reputation for a quality gun.
I ran my wife through a number of sidearms and the best one that fit her was the Sig p232. It's .380 but it fits her hand like it was molded for her and she got quite accurate with it in a very short amount of time.
I'd have her pick up a few other guns if at all possible. I own a Beretta, admire HKs but swear by Sig.
