I've had my panasonic head unit for less than a year, and its already having problems. In the last few weeks, the left channel has been cutting in and out (mostly out it seems). I realize that it may just be a short somewhere, but does anyone know any tricks to figure out what the problem is? (Preferably without taking the door panels off again)

It's probably in the car's wiring, my brother's car has done that ever since he bought it in 99...

As funny as this may seem, I had the exact problem. If I would jiggle the face-plate, it would come on, then off... You could actually tell that the problem was in the face plate, or the connection. I have no idea what the problem was (it was an old deck though, from 98... came with the car). When I replaced it, the wires were all connected fine, so I knew it wasn't that. Now that I have a new deck, everything sounds fine. I would first check the wiring of the harness (and of the amp bypass harness if ya got it), then go from there. It was the darndest thing... what goes wrong with a deck to cause that problem? No idea... maybe something screwed up for the fade/balance control within the deck. G/L though.

u can try cleaning the contacts on the unit and the face plate. people have that problem all the time at my work and pay over 100 bucks to fix it. but its prob the contacts. they could be dirty or dying...

I did clean them.... didn't do anything. It was an old deck anyways, so I got a new one. Still have the old one if you want it

Definitely losing respect for Panasonic....I have heard of several cases just like you are describing.

Yeah i'm starting to get po'ed. I don't mean to say that the unit sounds bad, but there's this problem and it doesnt hardly work with my sub the way i have it set up. I guess i just need to spend the money for something that has a sub output.
