And what about Alpine makes it @#$@? Just curious as I've owned severeal Alpine products and never had any problems with either the sound reproduction, quality, or function of any of them. Or do you just hate them "just because"

Many of my friends have had Alpine and most have switched to Pioneer or Kenwood with much better results. Better sound reproduction, clearer FM sensitivity, and all around better design. Maybe Alpine has gotten beter n the last 5 years, I don't know, but you know how it is when people get a bad taste in their mouth about something, they tend to be somewhat prejudiced forever.(human nature I guess)

I personaly really like my sony. But with all the new stuff out i my switch someday. But I really need some money first. Sounds like a nice set up, just make sure you get a good install. Half of your sound quality comes from having the equipment installed and set properly.

Just get the one with the features you want...I personally want absolute effort towards SQ,,,so actually a unit without an internal amp (JVC HX-D10), and lack of useless gadgets is in order...I dont even bother with eq. I like the truest and purest signal,,,If i had 500 bucks, i would buy a used sony c-90 ( 4 Burr-Brown DAC chips),,,JVC makes a couple of units with dual 24 bit Dac,,,Nakamichi I think has dual 20 bit DAC... I dont think Kenwood or Pioneer would make a better unit than Alpine at the present time.

But i understand someone prejudice if they had bad luck with a product. Alpine has been the premier brand for HUs for more than a decade. There are some better units that come out occasionally, but as far as an overall product line goes, Alpine is difficult to beat.

actually thats clarion HX-D10 without the internal amp. I just got mine installed the other day. Pioneer premier also makes a great deck without an internal amp but is no longer produced. you can find one on ebay for about $500
