I would race him. SHO's are really tricky to launch. If he spins out and you get traction, he should not be able to catch you. I raced a friend with a 92 SHO. I beat him 2 out of 3 times.

I've never lost to a SHO personally at any stages of modification.

You will have to nail the launch to win. Their stronger TQ will beat you in 3rd gear. (or make it a shorter race)

Don't go by 0-60 numbers. Baseless numbers for our car since it takes a shift to 3rd.

You also appear to have no mods outside of increased weight. (All that stereo shtuff)

I'd have to think you'd lose either way.

I had two SHOs a 89 and a 93 they are very tricky to launch lots of wheel spin. But ones going there are fast. The CSVT is much easier to launch it should win in a short run.

I too have owned both vehicles... I had a 93ATX SHO... Hell that thing had a lot of wheel spin on launches... I think this one is going to come down to the driver, that is if both cars are both running good...

Greg what have you lost too?

Normal SHO v CSVT scenarios goes as such....

CSVT gets 1/2 car to car lead in 1st through second, and then once the SHO hits third it pulls ahead and keeps pulling.

Personally, I've never understood why everyone seems to think the CSVT is so great from a roll. If you think the CSVT is great at a roll....race a SHO from a roll...but thats hard to do at the track :-)

I think we just want *something* good to say about our cars.

There's plenty of good to be said about our cars. Besides, a SHO won't totally "spank" an SVT in a race. They're faster yes but the difference isn't all THAT great.

Besides the CSVT is waaaaaaay ahead of the SHO in chassis composure, handling abilities and braking. Not to mention refinement and build quality. Most of the SHO's edge comes from its larger displacement, higher torque motor.

Were the CSVT equpped with a 3L it probably wouldn't even be a contest.

Depends on the driver ability in the two cars and the specific SHO itself. There have been more than a handful SHOs hit 14.5-.7s bone STOCK! How many CSVTs have hit 14s BONE STOCK? I don't remember hearing of any. Some with a few mods yes, but bone stock no!

As a total package, I agree the the CSVT is a beater car ALL AROUND. BUT the SHO has many more creature comforts, and IMHO is a better highway car. And, you can use the excuse that the SHO has an edge because of the displacement yada yada, but think about this...the SHO (depending on the year) can weigh about 400lbs MORE than a CSVT

It would make it a COMPLETE driver's race between the two cars (assuming stock hybrid swap), it already is a drivers race, but the hybrid swap would make the cars almost dead nuts in a 1/4 race more so.
