Well i did spend more than 500 for the bose. I spent 1500 for the bose from best buy but i got a 9 year warrenty so if i blow the speakers or anything for the next nine years i get free replacements. One of the biggest reason i went with bose is because of how small they are. I like simple designs that don't take up alot of space. Regarding hi-def i have digital cable and direct tv so i get digital channels which are alot nicer than analog but still nothing like hi-def. I heard that there is a samsung dvd player that is supposed to convert any dvd from 480p to 1080p. I have never seen it but i would like to here if it works.

If space was your biggest concern I guess you made a good choice, plus the 9 year warranty is nice. I do have one recommendation though. You could replace the bose sub with something much better for only a few hundred dollars and it wouldn't take up much more space. Believe me, you'll be happy you did.
