95 2.5 litre with Auto trans:
Starts on first spin when cold (and it's been Ver-r-ry cold here lately!) -then comes down off fast idle to the specified 800 or so RPM -BUT after a minute or so idle jumps up to 1200/1300 RPM and stays there as long as I leave it running. Then when I shut it off it won't start again 'till it's stone cold again! I've tried the floor it to override the injector presets but doesn't fire there either.
-Fuel pressure is fine (checked)
-Sparks are fine (checked)
-Replaced UIM gasket/o-rings 3 months ago and WD-40 test negative.
-No Codes (EEC-IV on the 95's)
--------Any ideas on what to look at next?

Hmm, maybe you had something come up (like if you have Defrost on, and you have A/C, when Defrost is on, A/C is on) and the engine dropped, then the PCM finally brought it back up some more

Sound like your IAC valve might be sticking. This has happend to a lot of other people too. Also check the wiring to the Crank shaft position sensor and the sensor itself might be going.

As for the no-start restart, are you getting a CEL?
I had a problem with a warm engine nostart with a misfire.
Car would run great, if I turned it off and let it sit once warm, restart was impossible till it cooled down.

Here's link to the post just incase.

That has never worked for me. I resort to pulling the fuel pump relay to crank the engine clear.

Check to see if it's flooded first.

I would suspect the ECT myself, and perhaps a vacuum leak to complicate the issue. If the ECT output reads lower than it should for the engine temperature, it will run richer as it warms up. It will flood if the RPMs drop or the engine is turned off. This will give no CEL.

If the oil smells like gas, change ASAP.

Thanx For Ur suggestions. I Finally let it warm up to opera ting temp, shut 'er down then read KOEO codes and got a 116 -ECT sensor out of range. Replaced the sensor (No fun on the 2.5 -it's behind the starter and PVC valve, under the TB!). She runs and starts perfect now.

Yup nice spot to put it. Real easy DYI install.

How much antifreeze did you lose?
I think I lost around a half pint.

Glad to hear it was a cheap repair.
