if I recall correctly, the s/n ratio should be as high as possible...what it is, is the amp's ability to distinguish btwn. music signal from the source and dead signal (such as btwn. songs, pauses, etc.) A high s/n ratio eliminates the hiss in your speakers during silent parts of songs... If I'm wrong, somebody correct me... smile
