I'd guess the 3rd wire is the ground connection. Don't worry about it.

Can your alarm be wired for a negative trigger doorlock system? If so, connect it's negative trigger lock and unlock wires to the relays exactly as shown in the diagram above.

If it can't, you'll need to make the following change to the diagram:

Remove the 12V wire from terminals 85 and 86, but do not remove it from the 87 terminals. Replace it with a wire connected to ground.

Connect the remaining 85 and 86 terminals to the positive trigger lock and unlock wires from your alarm system.

The 30 terminals are connected to the existing factory lock and unlock wires.

yeah, it can be hooked up as a negative trigger system. I think i finally understand it.

so basically, i am going to run my 2 lock/unlock wires from the ALARM to pins 85 and 86. (outside pins on each relay). then i am going to run the inside 85,86 pins and 87 pins to a 12v power source.

hmm but the "positive lock wire and positive unlock wire" are what are giving me trouble. These are going to be the 2 factory unlock/lock wires mentioned in the keyless entry how-to right? if so, i am basically going to T them right? cut it in half, splice the 2 ends together with a butt connector and then run a wire from the other end of the butt connector to pins 30 on the relays. does this sound right? if I do this, will I be able to just lock my doors manually (with the switch) without setting the alarm? let me know man. and again, thanks for all the help.

Yes, you just tee/tap into the factory lock/unlock wires as mentioned in the howto. You could use a butt connector or a tap connector. Connect the other end of the tap wire to the pin 30 of the relay.

As far as your alarm goes, you will be able to use the lock and unlock buttons on the doors as normal. It won't set the alarm--there isn't any sort of connection there that would allow the alarm to know you'd locked the doors with the door buttons.
