Alpine Electronics, Inc. is owned and operated in Tokyo ever since the 60s BUT there is a loads of difference between the products built there and here in America/Canada. All of the American products have components from Alps Electric Comp. & are American. Even alot of different options you can get on new alpine ( ie: BBS(former Barry Barcus Electronics), RDS, & the entire "bass engine" tech. ) where designed here in America. There corps are in Japen, BUT ever since there Lambo installs in 78+ they have prided American technology.

Who cares where it's made as long as it does what you want for a price you're willing to pay?

how many watts tonyD? My audiobahn amp is rated at 1600watts, but rated at 12.5 volts. I am very pleased with my audiobahn gear, and got great deals on all of it:

2200hc amp (1600watts) $350 (normally $1000)

2 12" 1200eus $189 (normally $199 each)

4 5x7 plates $95 (off ubid)

For a total of $650 I decked my car out with a great sounding system, when I was shopping around for different brands prior to buying anything, I couldn't find anything even remotely close in quality for these prices.

Sure there are much better brands out there, and they cost a lot more. Just like there are much better cars out there than my SVT, I just don't have the $$$.

You can find Earthquake D2s for around the same price as your amp if you shop around. I'm not saying your amp is bad, especially at the price, but there are other alternatives in the price range that can equal the quality of the audiobahn.

Are those watts rated in RMS? My friend ( the one I talk above about ) has just got the same amp for audiobahns largest 12", this things rated like at 1200 or 1800 or something, alot but just wondern weather this company over-rates ( like those "swap meet" amps ) or under-rates ( like Rockford ). This guys just hoping to enter a compition or two and is afraid of being put in a much larger class that he can't handle. ThanX! eek

Yah you would think that would be the case, wouldn't you but I've just had much better luck with American made products when it comes to car audio - not stick'n to some trend, just useing common sense of what I've learned over the years - In my case, If I can't aford it - I wait until I can...hinse the void right now in my life in the shape of an M3 laugh

my amp has no where near that kind of rating as it is a SQ amp (notice how most good amps have low watt ratings wink )

BTW i just bought a new a/d/s amp so this one is up for grabs laugh Make an offer and it oculd be yours.
