Not trying to rain on your parade, but limited funds and a $1000 sound system seem at odds with each other. I may be off the wall, probably my age, but I don't understand the need to have a really expensive sound system in an environment (the inside of a car) that is so poor for listening pleasure. Maybe my priorities are off, but a $200-300 radio will give "adequate" performance and leave $700 for "important" things. I hope you don't end up in the troubleshooting forum with a problem you have no money to fix.

I understand hobbies, I "waste" money on quite of few of them, but no security system is really going to protect the system. I kinda feel it is like leaving cash on the seat in plain view. I know many on this site have sound systems worth more then the car. If you are competing in shows, like a DeanJoyce, it makes sense to "invest" in the car. I am probably a fuddy duddy, but it is still odd to hear someone say they have no money and need to protect an expensive sound system.

Good luck anyway. As others have said, DEI makes the Viper system, and most of the other DEI systems are similar in performance. I have the Viper 600 system and it does what I need it to (remote trunk release, remote door release, audible indication when someone tries to steal it). Of course, it doesn't protect my radio from being stolen (no system really can), but it makes some noise when it happens.
