Read something at work today, this is a small quote by someone who used to work for Sony. He said, "The weakest console, is always the most popular, why that is still baffels everyone", From everything I have learned. Sony has the slowest processor, the worst graphic processor, the slowest access speeds. Come on, nintendo did [censored] with the GameCube, but its system can handle way more then the PS2, why do yout hink Cube games look almost as good as Xbox games, and PS2, just looks like PS1, except uses a DVD instead of a CD. I own all three systems, and get to play with them everyday at work. Microsoft has the most powerful system out, Nintendo is limited, but unbreakable to piracy (to-date) PS2.... uhh, quanity over quallity. The only reason Sony is still in the business is for a couple reasons. back in 1993, Nintendo and Sony create the Super Nintendo CD, to run with the Sega CD. Nintendo backs out due to console accessories don't sell well. Sony purposes the dolphin with nintendo. developement of the dolphin is worked on. (yes it was created, we have a few at work they run PS1 games. Sony, wanted 60% of the profit for the systems and a royalty of 20% of the games, nintendo only makes 15% percent. Nintendo says no, negotions are soon dropped by Nintendo. Nintendo drops the dolphin and sells it to Sony. Sony, revamps the almost complete system. Naming it the Playstation. Nintendo starts over and creates the Nintendo 64. Bet you all didn't know that. Sony got into the market using Nintendo's technology with their semiconductors and optical drives. Other then that nothing. over the past years, sony has learned to develope their own, and now they have a PS2 based on PS1 with slight improvement. Well, with the nintendo having the customer base, Sony deciedes to take Nintendo's main developer, Square Soft, (aka Square Inc, Square Enix-to-date). Sony locks Square Soft into the PS1 and PC market only. Developement of FF7 is stopped for 4 months. It is reopened and converted to PS1 compatibility. Cinemactics added to the game to further the story. (forgot something, the dolphin is nintendo's codename for their systems, nintendo64 and the cube were both code named dolphin, Nintendo64 was also almost named Ultra64, we have one of those too, just has different stickers on it, and box print). Back to Square, Sony, Nintendo. Nintendo lost is main developer, Sony's system takes off, flocks of developers flood to sony, as they all know Square is where its at. Nintendo loses hundreds of developes to Sony. A few years later Square Inc Merges With Enix, the merger was done to rekindle a friendship between two lost friends who ran both business. The merger takes Sony under 50% of Square Enix. Square, purposes deals with Nintendo, for 7 Games, Sword Of Mana, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Kindgom Hearts, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicals, and a few games in the testing area I can't speak of, none have been released to the public. Square Enix sent a memo, to nintendo that read a little like this. Complications due to Sony's dominence of the company has made Square Enix over the past years unable to create the games Nintendo customers have grown to love. In the next few months, we have a number of games proposed for the Nintendo GameCube, and the Game Boy Advance hand held system. Nintendo locked them in a 20 game contract. Square eager to do it signed it, and it was done. Nintendo is still looking into buying stock in Square Enix, in order to get some of the voting rights.
Now when you think Sony is better, you should look at the history between Sony and its competitors, and why everything thinks they are better. I know all of that didn't have a lot to do with why sony is better or not, and yes, its your opinion, but please base it on history not, well, i like 5 games on my PS2, and I have played halo on xbox, and nothing on the cube. Well [censored] that isn't an opinion. (this isn't directed at any one person, but those who base their opinion on their lack of knowledge for the gaming industry).
My Personal opinion. Xbox, very smooth graphics, they should be number one. (but they aren't!) Nintendo, they did themselves wrong with the indigo purple [censored], and no movie play capabilites, Sony, they have mass games, backwards compatible, good stuff!, thats what makes the GBA (game boy advance). With the new Nintendo DS (codename) it will make Sony piss down both pants, having to compete with the DS, and the GBA, not good. 30 Developers were interviewed, 93.3 percent of them, were eager to see it, and were already thinking of games to use the technology. Some of those include, EA, Square, Rare (now microsoft owned), Sega, Koei, and many others. Hell even the makers of Metal Gear Solid want to get into it. Hell they just redid MGS1 and implemented all the goodies from MGS2 and put them in the first one. Kick ass game!!! way better then the ones on PS.

Lets see...umm u can also hook the box to ur network and play SHOUTCAST music streams thru ur internet connection on ur xbox, and u can even also stream movies and music from ur pc to ur xbox via ftp. u CANNOT beat renting a game for life. u rent it, copy it (straight to the hard drive, or u can burn a DVD-r). bam and ur done, if u have a mod chip for a ps2 u still HAVE to BURN to a DVD-r.... having over 50+ games on my xbox for almost free is killer (u can even download the games from mIRC). u can have multiple dashboards (operating systems) w/ different skins for all of them, u can even make your own custom skins. and thats JUST the inside, u can mod the outside of an xbox like u would never believe, MAD led's, cold cathode w/ 3d etched custom jewels instead of the gay green jewel. i put blue LED's in my controller plugs, my eject LED, inside my controller itself and also wired some red LEDS to the rumble motors so when u get shot or something they light up... btw the ps2 graphics SUCK! play NFS underground on both systems and u tell me which graphics are smoother and clearer. XBOX 100%! BEAT THAT

agreed, but witht he hole piracy thing, its all good, but dude, if you like the game buy it, I only copy them so I can get them for nothing, if they suck, its trashed, if its cool, I buy it. Support them. If it was a $500+ app its one thing, but a $40-$60 game, come on.

Well....hate to let u down but its been hacked. u can buy the ethernet adapter, connect to ur home network, download the games from bit torrent and STREAM them from your PC to your GC (basically play them off the pc thru the gc...)!!! so far thats the only thing u can do w/ it... but itll get way more involved then that soon.
props to u, u know ur history. im impressed w/ all that. i didnt even know half that stuff...

you've got a point. but 40-60 is still a lot of $$ for one game! ive got over 50. so 50x$40 = $2k...uhhh ill let other people pay that to support them...i bought the box and controllers and a few games, but thats as far as im going... but i do understand what ur saying, its like the whole mp3 piracy [censored]..

in otherwards, the GC has not been hacked but can play streaming games, nothing knew, how do you think we do LAN testing. I can't wait till someone makes something that can play SNES games and stuff on it. that its what I am waiting on. lol.

Project Gotham Racing, Project Gotham Racing 2, Halo (also on PC), SW: KOTOR (now on PC, as well). That's four. Exclusivity means nothing, however. If you want to play any 3rd party game the way it's MEANT to be played (aside from EA's lack of Live! support), you must go with XBOX. Side-by-sides of Prince of Persia and Sonic Heroes for example, show just how much more power XBOX has. It's the future exclusives that I'm all over. Fable, Halo 2, Ninja Gaiden, True Fantasy Live Online.
There are only 2 PS2 exclusive games currently on the market that I would buy- Gran Tourismo 3 A-Spec... and... oh, wait, it's only one. I was thinking SOCOM II, but, I go out and actually DO that kinda stuff in the woods by playing Airsoft... a MUCH better version.
And, for those complaining about $40-$60 games, go work for those companies and show me the hours and hours and hours of creation and R&D, then tell me that it's a lot of money. MOST game makers do NOT make gobs and gobs of money on their games, they price them high enough to just break even. It takes hundreds of thousands of copies to sell for them to even TOUCH a profit. Now, there are instances I understand, and nearly agree with. If there are games that you would just flat- out NOT buy, due to reviews/lack of replay value/etc, and don't feel like renting... well, good luck to you.
Me? I'll stick with my XBOX, wait for the PSTwo (shrunken version of the PS2, similar to what they did with PSOne, due possibly late this year) at a lower price point (possibly $100!!), and enjoy the best of all worlds.

As read above before, I was complaining about the prices, and ohh wait, I work at nintendo, nintendo as anytime has 100-200 testers per game that comes through for a minimium of 1 month. 200 testers=1 month 100 testers=2 months, that doesn't count overtime that we always get towards the end of the project, usually 80 hours overtime plus 40 hour work weeks. I know how many hours a week they put in, hundreds, I get paid 15 an hour normal hours, 20 after 7pm, and time and a half after forty hours per week. I know how much it is, and thats just testers, no management, no advertising, no developers, no translators, just testers, add that up and see, plus we have benefits, that are just as good as our pay. and yet $40-60 is still a [censored] load. granted $40 I will spend, $60 I wont.
