The antenna-up lead should work fine since most radios flip that on anytime they are powered up, not just when the tuner is selected like one might expect they would do it.

Still, the amp bypass is really easy. All you need, assuming that you don't want to tear up the vehicle harness, is a harness that connects to the speaker harness that is currently plugged into your 'premium' amp. A little soldering and shrink wrap later (or crimp connectors, or even wire nuts if the better connection isn't important enough to you for the work effort) and you'll be amazed how bad that POS 'premium' amp was.
