I'm wondering if anyone else has had an issue with their brakes not always working right. I have looked up alot of sites and did find out there was a recall for back brakes on 97's. I have had my back brakes(wheels) lock up twice in the last 2 weeks. When I step on the petal if feels stiff and the car does not stop! Very Scary....after I pump them a couple of times everything seems ok. I am the second owner so if there was a recall would I even get a notice?
I live in snow belt country and this recall says salt affects something on the back brakes. Any info would help.

I had the same problem, it lasted for 3 days.
When I took the car to my mechanic everything including the master cylinder was okay.
We figure they were just cold and snowy and therefore only pumping the brake 10 times or so at start up help get them going. My mechanic has a BMW that does the same thing each morning.

I was scared (censored) the first time it happened as I went through a stop sign!

as for the recall it was for a valve on the rear brakes. Call Ford's 1 800 number, they can tell you if your car is involed in the recall. PCRV recall
