The pzev does run very well in a Focus. I've heard that some guys from focaljet have posted that they are hitting 160 WHP with only mild modifications to the intake and exhaust. That is in the realm of modified standard V6 Contour or just slightly short of a stock SVT.
Remember that the Focus is lighter. It may very well run about as well as your Contour. Also realize that although it is a 4 cylinder, it has nearly as much displacement. 2.3L vs 2.5L.
Some are saying that the pzev with mild modifications will run away from a Focus SVT.
