change your light bulbs....

sorry i really have no clue.....i do know that when i had a problem with my brake lights, once i had checked everything, it turned out it was a relay connected to the turn signals in the steering column, had no idea it even existed or why the brake lights run through there.....might give you some options of places to look....

There is a switch on the tranny that turns on the
backup lights when you place the shifter in reverse.
Make sure the switch isn't broken, or loose,
and that the harness hasn't come unplugged.

The switch is located on the tranny, near the shift cables,
and it has only 2 wires connected to it.

Well I know where the switch is...it looks fine (doesn't mean it's okay) but I pulled the plug and jumped the wires...the bulbs still don't turn on. I replaced the bulbs too! The fuse is good. SHouldn't the bulbs come on when you put a jumped between the two wires?

Okay,

First make sure the ignition is in the ON position or else nothing will work.

If you still don't get anything, make sure that the wires to the switch have 12V on one side.
Use a test light or voltmeter to confirm this.

Also check to see if you are getting 12V in the bulb socket, on one side.

If you are getting 12V at each place, then you need to check the ground side.
You can do this with a voltmeter.
Resistance should measure as ZERO or very close to it.

If the circuit is fine, then it has to be the wrong bulbs in the socket.

I'm not exactly sure, but I took it all apart and put it back together and it works now...not sure what happened..although it's better than taking something apart and putting it back together and not working
