I'm not a Mac fan, but I'll throw a POWER4 RISC processor against anything Intel has out in the market today and on a processor to processor basis eat it's lunch.

32-processor POWER4 systems can usually do the same amount of work if not more than most competitor offerings can do with 64-processors...

All this with a 1.7GHz clock speed, too. MHz or GHz isn't everything when it comes to creating a fast system.





First of all 64 bit has nothing to do with speed. The AMD Athlon 64 is just as fast as a normal XP3200+. 64 bit gives people more options when it comes to programming...blah blah blah. We are well over due. Second it hasn't been about Mhz for quite some time now. Look at what AMD has been doing. The first T-bird at 1000 Mhz was whipping anything Intel had to offer at the same Mhz.
