'Cause some people that aren't complete dashstrokers will argue that 500/500 for $46K is a bargain. They'd rather the money go into the engine, suspension, and transmission than supple leather seats and soft-to-the-touch dashboards. Same reason I bought my SVT Contour. It's not gonna win any interior design contests, but as a pure driver's car it couldn't be beat for the price.
