We removed it in the garage in the heat... so that would definitely make lots of sense... the only thing is that there were no signs of leaking, and the strut has been back on the car for almost a week now (in the freezing cold) and i haven't had the slightest problem, it still rides like new!
ahh well... probably just gremlins
