It's been a trooper as I've had it in deserts to jungles to 70 ft. underwater (borrowed a friend's scuba shell for his GL1). Best camcorder I've owned so far. Color and image quality are INSANE. It wasn't cheap when I bought mine, though with the GL2 out now (esentially the same camera with a flashier body) you can get them at much more aggressive prices that won't break the bank. When Canon refreshes their XL1 line I'll be grabbing one of those puppies. I've been whining for attachable lenses, as some of the extreme long-distance stuff I do demands it.
