Paper towels and newspaper (grandfather's old way) are made with glues which break down with cleaners and leave behind glue residue and paper "lint". (Not to mention the ink from newspaper gets all over your hands.) If ink is getting on your hands you can bet it's leaving behind a film on the glass as well. What's That Film? That terrible film on the inside of your windows is from plastics used in interior parts, your body oils, over-application of interior cleaners and dressings that evaporate into the air. Heat adds to the problem.
I got this from a very knowledgable car detailer friend of mine. Made sense to me. I use microfiber towels. I might be weird but when I find a company that impresses me I try all there products that catch my attention. I started out using Griots Garage microfiber waffer drying towel. then used their polish/wax microfiber towel, then I used their widow microfiber towels. I can say I am sold on them all. I use almost all their product. I am sure you can find MF towels from other companies and such, but this might give you an idea on what to look for.
