Has Anyone ordered one of these "GMK Cold Air Intake kits?" Custom Couger Complete CAI Kit

Are all of the components pictured really included? The advertisement is confusing the way it is presented.

Also, note that the price listed at top is $199 shipped while the ordering information price is $139 with free shipping!

If you select "add to cart" the item is "Complete CAI Kit #CAIKit" for $139.

I don't know how well it works, but if all the pictured components are included I am willing to find out!

Drop e-mail "Attention James" and ax him. I guess it's included, why not? $139 is a good price but not all that unbelievable...

My "gut" tells me that it would be difficult to fabricate this kit for $139, much less make any profit on it.

I asked the vendor for details first before ordering (and will post any reply here). I later decided to start this thread to see if anyone has some first hand experience with this kit they would share.

Has anyone bought one of these? Would you recommend it to a friend?

In my 95 I am running a Kustom Kurtz True Rev Sport Induction Kit sitting in the thieving DTEC tuning heat shield box (They didn't rob me for some reason). While I don't think I am suffering too much heat soak with this system, I am really tempted to try this CAI kit in my "new" 96.

I may be wrong, but this looks to be a good deal. There is some minor modification required (battery to trunk, make a hole) but nothing that sounds too dificult. They claim that the filter location behind the fog lamp is protected against water by the existing splash shields.

What do you think?

I've got one on order through a NECO group buy. Carbon Fiber(no heat soak), and it was 165 plus shipping. Now I just need a filter that will fit behind the splash guard

I would say CustomCougar's it's not bad. I just wanna see what Bnoon comes up with and then I am gonna decide on mine.

Now, my CTA for Zetec was $139, so why it's so hard to believe that $149 is a NORMAL price?

I would also say that the one offered by NECO is rather expensive.

Really? What am I missing here? When I look at the picture I see (excluding hose clamps):

Air inlet pipe $75
MAF Adapter and gasket $40
Cold Air Tubing and Couplers (extension Kit) $59
Conical Filter (K&N)? $60

Those prices are estimates of parts bought seperately from BAT, SP Motorsports and CustomCougars that total to $234.

It doesn't seem that long ago (last summer) that I considered buying this kit (or one very similar) for around $300. I am glad the price has come down by a factor of two.

I have not ordered one yet because I want to do some more searching on alternatives. A carbon fiber version of this is real interesting and I am sorry I missed the group buy.

A K&N air filter DOES NOT cost $60. It cost $30-$40. I'm interested in the extension only if it'll work on the CTA intake, hopefully another zetecer will try it out... they will sell the extension separately correct?

K&N = $30-40, as mentioned by Kremit.
MAF adapter = $25.
That cuts $40-45 off of what was stated above and don't forget these are retail prices, if the maker gets them for less, he makes the profit. It is a good price overall.
