Is it hard to get a dealership to perform this recall if you're not having electrical/engine problem symptoms? My car's 4000 miles from 100K and as far as I know, it hasn't been done.

Not if it's Sheehy Ford in Springfield, VA

I just showed them the cracked wiring on my fan harness and they agreed to do the 99M03 service. As a result, I had them fix an oil leak (from the crankshaft oil seal...also had them install a DMD I got from Bill Jenkins at the same time) and a new serpentine belt, and I had them replace the motor mounts, do an oil change, an alignment, and the VA safety inspection.

Battlefield Ford in Manassas, on the other hand...they suck. Stay away.

(In the unlikely event that anyone from warranty-battle field Ford is reading this, this is what happens when you refuse to perform warranty work--the customer goes to another dealer, gets the warranty work done there, and has that other dealer do some additional work while the car is there--which you, Battlefield Ford, would have gotten to do except that you suck and treat customers like dirt. In other words, you lost out on several hundred dollars of parts and labor, and when I buy a new Ford Futura, who do you think I'm gonna buy it from??)

I'm getting it safety-inspected at my local indie shop tomorrow, and I'm going to ask the manager about what I should do. I think he's got contacts at a dealership.

Hmm...the Ford website section where you can enter your VIN and check for recalls shows no outstanding recalls. No 99M03. I bought the car with over 70K miles on it. Wonder if it was done already?

If you had it done already, your oasis report on the car should show it I believe - at least if I remember correctly that's what Big Jim told me about 2 years ago!!!

It's not a recall, it's a "service campaign". It won't show up as a recall for that reason. It is basically a 10 year, 100,000 mile extended warranty on the underhood wiring harnesses.

Jeb,

From what I understand if your car is elgible for this, the tsb number should show up on oasis. If it is not there, my understanding that it was already done or your car is not elgible.......
