I am thinking about getting this one:
Phoenix Gold XS4300 - 230$ 35W x 4 @13.8V http://www.phoenixgoldcorp.com/xs4300.html

Should i go for it ? Or should i look for somethins else ? It will be used with Nak CD45z + Infinity Kappa 693.3i, and later i am planning to put two more speakers in a rear shelf and use them for some low frequencies only. Looks like this boy got lowpass - is it what i need ?

There is no doubt that it is a nice amp. You should be able to bridge 2 channels for 140w for a rear deck sub. Sounds like it could be a good choice.

the amp is great if your using it for 2 speakers, but if you plan on using it for 4 its absolutely a waste of money, it will only put out 35 x4 and im sure your reciver has more than that.

Not true. The 50-60 watts advertised by mfg for their HUs is a max wattage figure. Look at the size of the HU and consider that only 50% of the volume is dedicated to the amp, now compare that to the size of the Phoenix Gold. Do you honestly think the HU is putting out close to twice the power? Not a chance.

My brother runs his system off of 1 4 channel PPI4100AM (25x4) and it sounds great.

Im not sure what you define as car audio quality, but 35 watts for one speaker is nothing. i could **** out more than that. if your running speakers like lanzar or plyle or some bull**** brand i guess 35 watts is enough. i have diamond speakers for my interior, which are pretty good, but obviously not the best, and i have about 90 watts to each speaker, and thats GOOD ENOUGH, but i could use more. Even if you go to a place like best buy those morons even know that u need at leat 60-70 watts RMS to run anykind of decent speaker.that pheonix gold he is talking about is fine for two, but if hees serious about his system he'll get a 4 channel amp putting out AT LEAST 400-500watts, this is all assuming he has decent speakers.

I'm not even sure how to respond to this. Let me think about it for a while on how to explain this to you without sounding rude.

Actually, let me ask you a question. What is the difference between your system with 90 watts and one with 35 watts of similar quality? Let's just assume they are both phoenix gold amps for comparison purposes and lets also assume that the speakers are the same. I'm just trying to get a feel for your audio knowledge since it wasn't obvious in your last post.

are u serious!?!!I cant beleive you would ask me a question like that. WHATs the difference?!?!Well howabout a little example. a viper has about 400 horsepower and goes 0 to 60 in about what 4 seconds. a contour svt has 200 horse and does it in about 6 1/2 seconds. MORE POWERE = MORE OUTPUT. im not explaining myself again. I think what u need to do is go to a sound ahow and tell them what you told me. im not trying to be rude its just that it bothers me to think that 35 watts is enough for each speaker in a system. i mean of course you will here sound out of the speaker, but its the quality and power that matters. Well at least to me it does, maybe it doesnt to you.

35 watts huh, haha, unbelievable.

Well, it was a nice attempt on your behalf but not the answer i'm looking for... The answer is 4 dB in maximum output. 3 dB is generally considered a "noticeable" change in output. A 10 dB change will allow you to double the volume. To double the output you need 10x the power or in this case 350 watts. So, your 90 watts would be noticeably louder, but it would not be noticeable except at the limits. For everyday listening, I would almost guarentee you never exceed 50 watts. IOW, if you were playing your system at 105 dB and the 35 watts were being played at 105 dB, the difference would be nothing. If the 35 watt system ran out of steam at 110 dB, your's would reach 114 dB before doing the same. My point is that there is not a huge difference.

It was not an attempt on my behave, what you are talking about is correct to a certain degree. but that is also not what you were saying at first either. regardless i still think you really dont think you need to learn more. ive been doing this for a while, and while im not a expert, i do know alot.and 35 watts regardless of the db values is not going to cut it, at least for serious sound. And we must not listen to the same music because i get highs and lows all the time. I also have component systems, if you know what that is then you would know that it has a wide range of sound levels that 35 watts is not going to do **** for.
