The VSS is very easy to replace. It is located at the bottom rear of the trans and if you jack up the car and crawl under, you will see it. It is screwed on to an aluminum base mount. I recomend you remove the base too as this will also expose the drive gear. Pull out the gear and inspect it for chips and cracks. If the gear is damaged, you must replace it. The base is held on by one bolt and a hold down bracket. Disconect the wire connector end first before you try to remove the sensor as you will have to pull it out towards the bottom of the car. Also, have a few rags handy as the gear will have ATF on it. Once you have it out on the bench, unscrew the sensor from the aluminum base and screw the new one on. Do not over tighten the sensor. Be sure to keep everything really clean. Install a new O-ring and reinstall the unit back into the car. Now your ready to roll.
