It sounds like the child saftey switch on the driver window control. When switched on the rear window controls do not function and will not light up. Once the switch is turned off they should light up and work.
I was having trouble with this while I was re-attaching the driver window control. Does anyone have a pic so I can see exactly how those two pieces meet up?
