I got mine intalled and I works great. Thanks guys!
Regarding the centering spring for the small plate install... I was able to modify the spring instead of notching the tower by straightening the passenger side 90* bend and then rebending it a little farther down the end of the spring for just that side. The spring end won't stick out as far from the shifter tower, but with a little tweaking of the length of wire before the coils, I was able to get it to work just as before. The wire fits in the current notch and will engage the shifter rod enough to work correctly. No modifications were made to the other end of the spring. Just my thoughts if you wanted to keep the centering spring. Please rely if this doesn't make sense.
Now if I can find those pesky longer bolts...
Don

On 2000 models with the large plate you do not need new bolts or any additional bolts for the install...and the original studs work fine. You will however need somebody to push down on the whole assembly while you put the nuts on from under the car when mounting the plate. That is the hardest part of the 2000 install aside from the little round plastic clip on the side of the shifter...you will probably break a few of the fingers of but it will still work. Also on the 2000 install if you want to keep the centering spring "IT WORKS PERFECT" you do "NOT" have to modify anything like you do on the '98-'99 installs to get it to work!
Scott
You know Scott I got to thinking about that lol, I notices that the bolts I put in kind of countersunk into the rubber gromet so I thought " I bet I could of got those darn studs to work " ohh well, like I said works like a champ. And that damn retaining clip you are talking about......that took me the longest to get out. Out of the 8 or so fingers, there are 3 left. Plus a big chunk taken out of the base of the clip from me prying on the darn thing with a screwdriver. I am going to talk to Bill Jenkins or his new padawon and get a new retaining clip, now that I know how to get it off without breaking it. All you have to do is get a socket big enough to spread out the finger then just pull from the other side

The bolts are that uncommon when you live in a counrty that refuses to accept the metric system. The bolts are pleniyful up here .
