Regarding the centering spring for the small plate install... I was able to modify the spring instead of notching the tower by straightening the passenger side 90* bend and then rebending it a little farther down the end of the spring for just that side. The spring end won't stick out as far from the shifter tower, but with a little tweaking of the length of wire before the coils, I was able to get it to work just as before. The wire fits in the current notch and will engage the shifter rod enough to work correctly. No modifications were made to the other end of the spring. Just my thoughts if you wanted to keep the centering spring. Please rely if this doesn't make sense.
Now if I can find those pesky longer bolts...
