2. Weight--that is a truly bogus argument against an ESC. Ask youself this question--if your car runs 2 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile and you add 150lb to the weight to do so, how is that an argument AGAINST the ESC? Another point:
3. NOX--The guys I know run 75-150 shots, and NOX is $3.75/lb for known sponsored cars ($4.50-$5.50lb retail). A 75 shot is .7lb per run, so 10 runs of 10 seconds lowers pressure to 1000 psi and the tanks are refilled. ($30/10lb)
4. The dirty little secrets are rarely given any time in magazines, but if you design and sell them, you find out quickly that 16% of all turbos fail in a year. One out if six.
5. With NO WARRANTY--EVER. Vortech units last 50K miles if driven correctly and not spun to over 40K. Powerdyne units last 3 years between overhauls. Prochargers are about the same. Paxton units last 30K miles. Dont expect any form of warranty on any of those--simply an overhaul charge or you buy a new one. The Eaton is the best (Jackson Racing, factory Tbird, Lightning, GM V6, Jag, etc)lasting 150K. That is why I use them.
1. I gave a ton of reasons why NOT to get one. I can not think of one reason to actually get a setup like this personally.
You must realize that "drag only" cars are not the goal of the majority of the members of this website. If it was we would BUY CARS MORE SUITED to drag racing. Adding extra power & weight that is only usable for an extremely limited amount of time and only at WOT is not a great way to spend 2-3 THOUSAND dollars!!!
2. Again you are insulting the intelligence of the car owners here. WEIGHT IS EVERYTHING. It kills handling, braking, and non-WOT performance significantly. Why can you NOT see that???
3. $4-5 per pound!!! What a rip off!!!
$3.75 is average at best and $3.50 is easily available if you look. $4 is the highest I have seen and that was an "at the track vendor" Obviously "your mileage may very"
With that said I personally do not like nitrous. It's temporary power at best. Matter of fact your setup is really the same. Temporary power at best. Yes it is self recharging but it is VERY LIMITED in use and the cost expenditure for it is not remotely worth it compared to other options.
You have to realize that "drag" only power is all your setup really offers and Nitrous is a much cheaper way to go about it.
750 runs equals 75 runs a year for 10 years. Say you get maybe 5 runs per night that is going to the track 15 times a season. (or maybe every other week) Think about the logistics I all talking about here. Honestly speaking! Even if you openly condone ILLEGAL drag racing on the street it still means 3 "FULL" run-ins a week for 3 years...
4. Well you should have found an honest supplier then... ...or perhaps at least a proficient builder of the setup. 1 in 6 fails within a year eh. That's very sad indeed.
5. Obviously you have not done your research of the POS Vortech released for out platform. It's more like 2 out of 1 fails within 60 days. You definitely have a point verses their setup. I have not heard anyone talk good about Powerdyne (you are the first to give it 3 years even) Procharger gets nothing but rave reviews and I know several of the folks that work for them here in KC. Eaton is great! No question, but also none of the previous listed pertain to our application in anyway. (outside of Vortech )
I think your setup is a great idea, but just not remotely practical for the cost or very limited use.

It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.
