Just bought a '98 Contour GL. The guy thought it may have a bad wheel bearing. When you drive it, it makes an incredibly loud noise that sounds like a twin prop airplane. It makes the noise going straight and in left curves. It only stops making the noise when you go through a sharp right curve. Could it be a wheel bearing or axle?

I pulled the passenger hub assembly off and the axle. I can very slightly wiggle the hub, but nothing like I expected if it was the bearing making that noise. The axle also looked pretty good when I pulled it apart. Could this still be the problem?

The only other thing I noticed is when I was looking at the driver's side, I can wiggle the axle up and down a little bit right where it goes into the transmission. That looks like something that could definitly make some noise, but if it was coming from there, I don't know that it would quit on any curves.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
