Thanks for the replies, I'm definitely going to get the car up on stands to have a look for any loose mounting points. In response to hondas_for_breakfast, I haven't tried just popping the clutch, as I'm trying to avoid the thud. I'll pay closer attention to it on my next drive and report back.
