I'm considering doing a custom built setup for my subs in my car. The port here would be behind the armrest in the back seat. When the rest is down, you'd be able to look back and see the speakers. And since I haven't got hosting and images on here down yet, prepare for text drawing. smile hahaha

The * mark where the face of the subs would be.
At the ~~~ I planned on putting a design of some sort on the inside of the box, so when someone looked back, they'd see it. The entire setup would be taller than the gap the armrest hides, so some sort of lighting would be done from the ceiling of the box to illuminate it all. My thought was a Cadillac Emblem where the ~~~ are, and a black light might look good. But, I'd like to know what people's theories on it's sound would be like. I don't do astounding amounts of power, and want a clear, crisp sound in the lower volumes. Friction thinks this setup may create an audiopass which would give me high volume and hard hit, but both at high levels. Any other theories?

0's are spaces. This is an attempt, though Friction's telling me a way to fix it.

I am not 100 percent sure on this but i do know that when you use ported or enclosed boxes the dimensions have to be within range for the specific speakers or it could cause damage. I know that when it comes to enclosed or closed boxes it is more improtant to follow the size restriciton, bu it is also important with ported. If you are very familiar with this stuff then i am sorry for wasting your time. I alwasy consult one of those guys and small radio install shops they usually have good clues... good luck anyways.

The enclosure is actually going to probably be bigger than the 12's will need. And I'll probably have small ports drill so it dumps into the trunk. I'm just trying to find out how that's likely to sound.

Ports have to be tuned for the enclsoure/speaker being used. Be careful about how your port the speaker, it is a very specific science.

I had a setup similar to this in my last car (Infiniti G20, R.I.P.) Fired through the armrest skihole, and it sounded LOUD...but, if not built perfect, you can end up with a one note wonder...make accurate mesurements, and you should be fine...btw...mirrored glass along the floor helps the lighting...just my .02
