Explain how it could give performance gains if the EGR is never used at WOT anyway???

If anything it would decrease performance at tip in and after shifting since the cylinders do not receive it's cooling effect.
Not too mention the PCM maxing spark advance (emissions programming) thinking the EGR was working would likely cause the knock sensor to kick in and retard timing for a short time while accelerating after a shift or decel.
