It has been shown to give tiny performance gains, people tried it out on zetecs a little while back, but found out that not having it can cause excessive heat in the engine (not talking about coolant either) and can lead to some problems, though it could be useful just doing it temporarily at the track,,, that is if it's as easy to do on a duratec as it is on a zetec.
