Don't blame Ford for what happened. It looks like the professional you used for the Nitrous install was a fu<kwit! There's been a fare share of Contours with Nitrous kits on them that have not had that happened, so get off your soap box.
I have a Turbo on mine and it hasn't burst into flames.
I also find it hard to believe that you car didn't have the SVT brakes on it. I think you are confused in that it was an E1 which means the rotors are bigger than a regular Contour but it had the regular Contour pads on it(just with bigger brackets). Only the E0's had different pads. I find it hard to believe that the dealer would downsize the brakes for no reason.
