From my old auto tap data, there was an easy 20 degree difference from the KKM to the CAI. With a battery relocation, I was looking at another 20 degrees cooler than the CAI by itself and got to within a few degrees of ambient temps on an 80+ degree day.
True, at a standstill, the CAI would injest warmer air. Once the car begins to move though, the CAI *clears* itself of that warmer air much faster as shown in Autotap scans of IAT and MPH vs. time.
Dyno results would be a waste of time with this type of CAI as it makes it's gains with increased air movement from the car moving. Dyno runs are made with the hood open and a slow moving fan blowing at the front of the car = worthless.
Case in point:
'99 CEG National meet in K.C.
Early SE with KKM and SVT Exhaust dynoed at 159HP. I can't remember the guy's name, seems like it was Randy, or Ross or something like that. Champagne color 5 speed with E0 rims.
My SE with CAI, KKM filter, Eram, and SVT TB dynoed at 142HP
Later that night at KCIR, in 90+ degree heat and 95% humidity, he ran a 16.4 at 86MPH, I ran a 15.9 at 89MPH. The E.T. can easily be attributed to the driver, but 3MPH was a big difference in trap speed. I even beat quite a few SVT's that night. (Slow times were due to it being so hot and sticky) Think it was the Eram?
