I just got one for our wedding this summer. It's going to cost about $600. And we met with a bunch of them too, this one was by far the most impressive. Make sure you interview a bunch of them and go watch them in action before you make your decision. the DJ makes or breaks the reception!!!!!

I have no idea what my DJ costs, as he came with the reception package. all we do is pay by the plate and that covers tax, gratuity, cake, hall, DJ, decor/flowers, limo, etc etc. we did watch a lot of DJ's from both of the companies that are offered and picked one and met him. We think the old ladies at the reception will think he's a cute young man.

The DJ Lisa and I are going with for our wedding this September, cost us $850. It's a lot of money for a DJ around here, for a wedding. The other two candidates were a lot more $$$ though. One guy, said it would run ~ $1300! frigg that.
Anyway, we knew we wanted this guy since about 2 years ago. When I signed the contract, he told me that in 2004, his prices were going up to $1150!!!
You're right though - the prices are going up and up and up.

Ok, so I'm not crazy...I was thinking $800-$1000 which is kind of in line with what you all are saying, so double that and then add a little more, and you're where this guy is.
We met with him tonight, he does seem very good. He's been doing this and only this for the last 17 years. He works with an assistant and basically becomes the producer of the reception and coordinates everything to flow smoothly.
That's all fine and good, but surely someone can do all that stuff for 1/2 the price.

That's basically what my DJ is going to do....
We're going to meet with him about a week prior to go over the final details and he's going to be basically running the wedding, making sure things get started ontime and whatnot. Very nice guy and very entertaining! Knows how to get the party going!
I'm hoping that Lisa is going to have such a great time dancing, she won't know I'm at the bar throwing back a ton before my flight to Florida the next morning! (I'm a little nervous about flying).

$2500!!
Full coverage, 3 albums (2 for parents), crazy amounts of pictures for everyone....Oh well. This is going to be a VERY expensive year for me!
But, hey.....at least my video is for free. My cousin is a professional videographer! That's a big help.
