AutoCrossing is mucho-fun . STS is a very competitive class around here , it makes me wish I'd have left my suspension stock . Without an LSD , you'll have to get used to spinning that inside tire & having no pull out of the corners .

yep, that 1 intake that prolly didnt even do anything kicked me out of GS, I probably would have killed there. It's wierd how exhaust gets BIG gains and you can have that in the stock class, but not a little intake, which is most peoples first mod since its cheap.
And yes, I was smiling, especially after I went for a ride in a 98 Viper GTS on which it set the fastest time of the day. All I can say about that is WOW.

Bah, the ultimate in retarded is the short-throw shifter exclusion. It *might* save a nanosecond on that one shift into 2nd. The assine classes where in each you're nearly guaranteed to get slaughtered by one car is what put me off SCCA.
Club racing might as well be a Mazda benefit. For example, the SVT isn't legal in ITS but the SE is. They'd hate to interrupt the RX7 charity run they've had forever. And what happened when the Z4 started kicking the Miata's ass? Yep, MX5 owners pithced a hissy and had it excluded from the Runoffs.
I'm a member but the SCCA is a joke, and now they're sponsoring drifting! Drifting? It's a judgement sport! The SCCA is for nothing but lining the pockets of certain vested groups. The unfolding Trans-Am debacle proves it.
No wonder NASA is growing like mad.

NASA supports drifting as well, but their classification rules are like farktards. I'm in the same class as Subaru WRXs? So I had to layeth the smacketh down on five of them beeyatches

I have a short shifter too, just didnt mention it because 99.9% of the time I dont think about it as a mod, I didnt do it because its magically faster, it just feels better.

But that's cheating in GS, especially in a self-governing sport. I swapped out stock bushings on the rear sway bar to poly, and then graduated myself up to STS.

And if you feel that short-throw shifter is the reason you got your butt kicked then you need help!
There are lots of mods that are not readily visible (Quaife, for example) that are legitimate, performance enhancing bits. Cheating is not claiming an item like that, not some short-throw or even poly bushings. The losers who protest a guy over a mod that *might* give him a .0000000003 advantage are completely missing the point.

I disagree. If you feel that you can "bend" the rules by saying that "it really isn't a competitive advantage" then you're wrong. Cheating is cheating. Class yourself right, and deal with that PAX. Contours aren't that competitive anyway; look at the national champs in GS and STS -- they're all in newest gen Celics GT's and 88-91 Civic Si's respectively. You'll never beat one of those that has a decent driver.
If you're not willing to play by the rules, then why play at all? Does a piece of wood on your wall that you came by *knowing* that you violated the rules give you any satisfaction? If so, that's sad.
In our car club, the STS year-long points winner admitted that he used illegal camber bolts in his Impreza RS instead of legal camber plates to save a couple of bucks. His argument was that his mods were "in the spirit of the rules" and he has lost several friends as a result. Try doing that stuff at a national event and watch for the results ...
