No problem. And someone who doesn't try to talk (lie) their way out of a ticket? Why would that bother the officer? I would find that refreshing. Might even let someone off for their honesty...

I don't try to carry the whole world on my shoulders. People do some really bad things sometimes. I'm thankful to live in such a good country but there is always room for improvement.

Ok, that I can respect. But when people stereotype all officers as "pigs" or whatnot, then they are just being ignorant themselves. I never said cops don't make mistakes. Those who have known me on here for some time know that I never defend bad cops. But they also know my opinion that it is just as ignorant to want police to do something about crime and then hand them an empty toolbox to complete the job with.
Agreed, and I apologize. It's an affirmation of youth, unfortunately, to have the opinion that all cops are pigs. I'm sorry that I feel that way, and of course it's an ignorant viewpoint. I have no problems with giving police hammers, so to speak, so they can push in a nail, however I do have a problem when they blindly swing the hammer until they hit one.
I honestly don't have all the answers in that regard, but I will state one needed opinion: For what the police do, they need to be paid *significantly* more, however the standards used for police officers to be chosen need to of the *highest.* Most people have a problem with authority, and for good reason, and it doesn't help at all if those whom are in those positions of authority have the authoritative attitudes to go with them.
As for pay and standards, it doesn't appear that either of those things are true.

You're misunderstanding me. I never said I didn't do anything wrong. I'm not sure if you read the rest of the thread. If it is, in fact, illegal to fail to signal a turn INTO MY DRIVEWAY, then I broke the law. My point with her and with you is that she did NOT need to pursue me for it. If she had probable cause to believe I was intoxicated or otherwise didn't need to be on the road, I can understand that. But I'm in a fixed up Prelude with ricer headlights and she wanted to get me on SOMETHING. Even before I turned into my driveway, I saw her apply her breaks and veer to the right side of the road in preparation to make the illegal u-turn. She had it in her mind to get me before I did anything wrong. This is indesputable.
As far as identification goes, about 90% of officers who pull me over state who they are and what city they work for. If this isn't common practice, then I have no reason to gripe. I'm going off past experience.

and understand that police officers are people too, just doing their job.
Of course I understand this. I thought I left myself a disclaimer. I'm far from the "all cops are pigs" attitude. I would imagine that you and I agree on a lot of issues as far as law enforcement goes. Did I mention I don't street race anymore?
Quote:
You would have been arrested for obstruction. You weren't being hasseled. Do you think that if you can make it to your driveway and get out of your car, you are somehow immune from citation? That's a bit ridiculous, don't you think?
I suppose. I didn't even think about just going into my house. I was curious what that would mean.

High school really should require some courses on state laws, just so people understand them.
I agree. Learning is fun. Gold star.
All that being said, I'm also usually very curteous when I'm stopped. Even that night, I said my "yes, ma'ams" and "no ma'ams" and I answered all of her questions honestly and quickly. She was just being ridiculous in what she was saying and I gave it back to her. She could have handled it differently. But like I said, so could I.
Now Sandman should stop playing in the sand and come make our streets safer!

Also, last night I used my right turn signal to make the left turn into my driveway... just in case she was waiting for me and watching.

lol, you still find ways to crack me up, and I do remember our debate on street racing. Was one of the better debates on these forums, even if it did keep getting locked... lol.

To everyone who says the stop was warranted for the initial violation (lack of turn signal)...GIVE ME A BREAK! He was turning into his own driveway!
That's a signal of an inconsiderate driver you say? How? He's turning into his own driveway! The only thing he can cause damage to is his own property.
Not using your turn signal means the driver is possibly drunk you say? Tell me this is the reason she is stationed in a neighborhood, and I'll tell you that she needs to move. What good is catching a drunk driver when he has already reached his house and won't be back on the road? Why not move to a congested part of road where there is a REAL danger to other drivers.
Sorry, but a more fitting traffic stop would be pulling him over for lack of signal when he is leaving his home, not returning.
