If you want to keep a stock dash appearance but don't mind some wiring, the single-DIN AM/FM/CD player from the 99-00 Mazda Protege/Miata will fit right in, has green illumination, and has a black face like the factory CD player. Unlike the factory CD player, it isn't known for having problems ejecting CDs, and it has a built-in 15W RMS/channel amplifier (same as most aftermarket stereos).
They're also really cheap on Ebay,like $50 or less, sometimes as low as $25. One of the sellers on there will even sell it with a plug so you can plug it straight into a Ford vehicle.
This is the same exact CD player that Ford used in the 2003 Escort ZX2...
