I finally did it. I got XM in my car. All I gotta say is that it is awesome. So far my XM customer experience has been very good. Here are some key points:
1. It took about 15 minutes from the time I set up my billing to when my tuner got activated.
2. Clarity: CD quality sound
3. Dead spots: Haven't had any, although I'm bound to run into some. So far I've been impressed by the fact that it has worked in the parking garage where I work and in my own garage at home.
4. Works just like existing radio in such a manner you can have your favorite XM presets.
5. Antenna is low profile. It's pretty low key in fact.
For all this time, I've been so accustomed to having commercials that when I listen to the commercial free programming it feel weird, by far the best money I've spent. Well... almost. The TiVo is better.

Don't forget expensive!!! Hundreds of dollars in equipment plus $120/yr for the priviledge of listening to the radio!!!
Sheesh!!!
It is a nice service, tho. I'd be getting it if it were cheaper, like a hundred or so for the module and antenna and $40-50/yr.

I'm glad to hear you like it! I would like to hear it in person to hear the SQ. I know the music on my home satellite isn't CD quality (neither are my MP3s) and they also are acclaimed as CD quality.

I know the music on my home satellite isn't CD quality (neither are my MP3s) and they also are acclaimed as CD quality. It's definitely an improvement over conventional radio. I compared a CD I had in the HU with the quality of XM. I'd say they were pretty close. You can't beat the variety of programming. While in some cities you can find all types of programming, here in Austin, there aren't any all news stations.

I played with an XM deck at best buy the other day. Really cool. Only down fall I saw was that there was no direct tuning to the XM channel, but if you held seek, it would go by 10's.

Dweezel - Both the Pioneer and Alpine have settings that you can use to browse by category (i.e. decades, news, etc...). It's a setting you can select. I don't know about the Sony model.

i just installed mine and i love it! No commercials on many of the stations and i love the comedy station...great for road trips. Best part of all, since i'm a technician for best buy i got the unit at cost and XM gave me free activation plus 6 months free to try it out and spread word of mouth. I highly recommend it to anyone who travels or for those of us who live in the boondocks.
Cheers Rimmie

Wireless do not forget that they (??) know who you are and where you have been when you received your XM single. So just be forewarned that big brother has the capacity to watch you if he so desires.
